Special CBI Court Judge Subhendu Saha has directed Firad Hakim, Shobhan Chattopadhyay, and former Superintendent of Police SM H Mirza to appear in court again on July 31, 2023, in relation to the Narada case. The case pertains to the alleged bribery scandal involving several politicians and government officials.
Madan Mitra, who is also named in the case, did not appear in court on the scheduled date. His lawyer informed the court that Mitra was unable to attend due to family reasons.
The Narada case has been a subject of controversy in West Bengal, with several political figures and bureaucrats being accused of accepting bribes in exchange for favors. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had launched an investigation into the matter, leading to the arrest of several high-profile individuals, including Firad Hakim, who is a Trinamool Congress leader and former mayor of Kolkata.
The case has been ongoing for several years, with multiple hearings and appeals. The next hearing is scheduled for July 31, 2023, when the court will hear from the accused individuals once again.
